Check out the Best Features of VR Headset
A virtual reality
headset (or VR headset) is a device worn on the head that allows the
wearer to be immersed in virtual reality. Virtual reality devices are strongly
associated with video games but can also be used in other contexts, such as
training or medicine. They consist of a stereoscopic headset, stereo sound, and
head, limb, body or eye position sensors (such as gyroscopes, accelerometers or
optics).
What are the key features of a good VR
headset ?
Ø Display Quality :
Essential for a
successful virtual reality experience, the quality of the
display depends mainly on the type of slab and its definition. The ideal is
currently the Oled, which combines depth of black, high contrast and minimal
afterglow. If maximum definition is expected, the space between the pixels must
also be kept to a minimum, otherwise an unpleasant grid effect will result.
Finally, a larger field of view will provide better immersion.
Ø Reactivity
A virtual reality
headset must detect the user's movements as accurately and quickly as possible,
and then display the image with minimal delay to avoid discomfort and
discomfort. The best headsets reduce latency to less than 20 ms, with the
display frequency rising to 90 or even 120 Hz.
Ø Comfort
Displaying a beautiful
virtual environment is one thing, managing to keep the user in a comfortable
situation to preserve immersion is another. The HMD must be comfortable and
forgettable. It must also be able to adapt to different morphologies and
visions (wearing glasses, adjustment of sharpness...).
Ø Compatibility
While some mobile
headsets are universal and fit multiple smartphones, others are only compatible
with certain models, such as Samsung's Gear VR. The same applies to the
PlayStation VR, which only works with the PS4. On the PC side, on the other
hand, compatibility is wider, but the minimum configuration required still
reserves the headsets for the most powerful machines.
